My name is Donna. I am 62 years old, 5' 5" tall. I live in the Midwest of USA. I am in remission for breast cancer, have Type 2 Diabetes, an under active thyroid, a touch of high blood pressure, some osteoporosis and am working to get healthier. I know losing weight and exercising more will help all of these issues.
CHALLENGE TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS GOAL: Total Loss of 15 pounds to land at 187.8

I TRY TO WEIGH ON THE 1ST AND LAST DAY OF EACH MONTH ALSO. I HAVE MADE THE GOAL OF LOSING A LITTLE MORE IN SEPT AND OCT AND KEEPING IT A LITTLE LESS THROUGH THE NOV AND DEC HOLIDAYS (AND BAKING SEASON.) I THINK THAT 15 POUNDS OVERALL IS A MORE REALISTIC GOAL FOR ME ESPECIALLY SINCE I LIVE IN A VERY SNOWY AND ICY AREA AND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES AND EXERCISE ARE DIFFICULT AFTER OCTOBER 1ST. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT I GET AND STAY AT A HEALTHY WEIGHT DUE TO HEALTH REASONS I WILL SHARE ALONG THE WAY. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! I AM ROOTING FOR YOU AND SUPPORTING YOU ALL 100% WE CAN DO THIS!

07/14-197.4-(Trend Weight: 200.5)-Scale going wonkers even with the new (cheap) batteries. It’s only a year old but I’m thinking maybe I need a new one. Any recommendations? I went with the number that makes the most sense. Frustrating. Feeling a bit better yesterday and today.

07/07-202.0-(Trend Weight: 203.4)-I have Covid. Ugh!
07/14-197.4-(Trend Weight: 200.5)-Scale going wonkers even with the new (cheap) batteries. It’s only a year old but I’m thinking maybe I need a new one. Any recommendations? I went with the number that makes the most sense. Frustrating. Feeling a bit better yesterday and today.
07/21- 199.0-(Trend Weight: 200.1)-My weight has went wonky since getting over Covid. It drifted back up daily over this past week even though I was following plan and getting some regular movement in. I’m now working my way back down from the increase that took me to about 201.0 My son and I danced for 23 minutes last night. I also rode on the stationary bike for 16 minutes. My blood pressure is staying really low after the Covid recovery. I called the cardiologist office yesterday for advice on taking/not taking my meds but no call back. I have not taken them in 2 nights now. Even without the meds the numbers are running around 95/52. Sometimes a bit lower even with the bottom number dropping into the high 40’s at times. My BPM’s remain good at 88-92. Naturally, I am afraid to take BP meds for fear it will get even lower. If anyone has any knowledge or ideas on the blood pressure thing or medication I would love to hear from you. Anyhoo, I am back to babysitting my DGS on weekends starting in the morning. I can’t wait to see him tonight!

It's been a tough last couple of weeks for me mentally and stressfully so I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I stepped on the scale and saw a loss for the week!

07/31- 201.6-(Trend Weight: 201.4)- Down 1.2 for the month and grateful for that. I have been diagnosed with triple blockages in my heart and will be having emergency stenting tomorrow (Monday). If all goes well, I will just be gone overnight. I’ll be spending the day setting up my first of the month bills, cleaning up the house a bit and packing. I hate things hanging over my head so I’m glad this is happening quickly. I will try to keep up with the posts and will keep you updated as I can.

08/05-200.2-(Trend Weight: 201.2)- Healing, on light duty and not getting in any exercise. Feeling pretty good, however. Except for all the huge bruising on both arms. Appetite is good. Watching calories carefully.
08/12-197.8-(Trend Weight: 200.4)- I have been pretty careful most days as I heal from the surgery. I have not been allowed to get in much movement however, but I still managed to drop a bit. My daughter is getting married on Sept 3rd. Lots of planning going on. I am working hard to look my current best (or better). I am very happy, especially, to see my trend weight going down.

I was given a new doctor in the mix, an endocrinologist (diabetes), and he’s a grouchy old man who is not happy. He blames the diabetes for my heart issues too. I’ve got a LOT of work to do and I am hoping to avoid insulin with weight loss.
08/26-200.6-(Trend Weight: 200.3)- Down one full pound from last week. Not bad after so much travel this past week while working on continued medical issues. Next stop: A Doppler on the legs to check for suspected blockages and a pulmonary test since the heart stent did not relieve the breathing problem. Maybe COPD from my old smoking habit? I quit 15 years ago but damage is damage I suppose! What I am missing through all this is some exercise. However, I am not even allowed to take walks right now. I have to go through 12 weeks of cardiac rehab where all of this will be introduced under medical supervision to prevent another heart attack. Lack of exercise makes watching my diet more important than ever if I am to lose weight. And the diet is always the hardest part for us all, isn’t it? I’ve got to stay focused and positive. I can do this.

So sorry I haven't been around. I haven't been eating properly still the last month and I dropped 12lbs in 2 weeks. Not a good way to lose weight but I'm slowly starting to eat more again like normal. Can't believe it's nearly my birthday already (16th September) and nearly the end of another challenge. Weight is steady but sometimes down even slightly more. My daughters wedding was wonderful and I did pretty good with the food choices that day. That helped. Travel today for medical. May the beautiful Queen Rest in Peace. She will be missed.
