Hi, I just got my bodymedia link in the mail 2day & I only wore it for about an hour & 1/2 but it's giving me 414 extra workout calories on my MFP diary... Does anybody know why it would do that?

It's projecting the calories it thinks you will burn for the day based on your currant activity. Since its your first day I wouldn't worry to much, tomorrow you will get a much better read out.
Btw that number will go up or down depending on how active you stay, for instances if you're very active in the morning but then sit around in the evening the exercise number will go down as your activity level decreased. I can have my exercise as high as 500 in the morning and dwindle down to 250 if I don't keep moving the rest of the day.0 -
At every given point in the day it will estimate how you will finish out your day. So if you're super active all morning and then have a nap for the better part of the late afternoon, it will give you extra calories and then take them back. But if you have a slower morning and are super active in the evening, the number will creep up all day and by night time you'll be eating an 800 calorie snack
Don't worry, it will only be a few days before you get a real feel for what your actual TDEE might be.
Basically, MFP figures you'll burn X calories. Body Media believes you'll burn X+Y and it's more accurate because you're actually wearing it. So it adds Y to your MFP target because the target has the deficit built in. So eating Y extra will still keep you at the same deficit.0 -
How long do u wear it? All day & night?0

I have. I just did about 3 1/2 weeks. Then I knew my TDEE average and just went with that. Did my own cut from there.0

Read the booklet if you have it, you're supposed to wear it 23hrs a day. I usually take mine off in the morning, sync it up to see how well I slept and then leave it off for an hour. You can also go into the the calories burned and record you're off body calories. This way you get the calories you burned while you weren't wearing it. For me, the coolest part as seeing how I sleep and apparently I'm only at 73% efficiency per night.0

WoW! That's krazy! That's 1 of the reasons I wanted it... 2 see how I sleep... ;-)0 -
oh ya lol I did have it off to shower and to plug it in and charge it. I never bothered adding in calories for either, because I was always sitting at the computer or standing in the shower. I figured that can't be far off the baseline
So yeah... about 23 hours a day I guess.0 -
