Hello everyone.

I just signed up with MFP this morning. Annual blood work came back showing both my A1c, and Cholesterol were a little high this year. I would like both of these numbers back in the normal range before my repeat blood work in three months.
After reviewing all the Apps within the iOS App Store, MFP seemed like a good place to monitor my daily intake of Sugar and Cholesterol.

    Welcome to MFP.

Remember, many entries here are crowdsourced. Some people enter only the macros and micros they care about, so you may not get a full picture unless you’re very choosy about the entries you select.

OTOH, my husband has been diabetic for 25+ years. Less than six months after starting MFP, his doctor took him off his diabetes meds.

He’s still obese, but in so much better health than he was a year ago.

The act of paying attention to what he was eating seemed to be enough to turn the corner for him

Seeing carbs etc in black and white got his attention.

Also having a fitness tracker and realizing how little he moves, getting the hourly reminder to move, and the desire to add a few snack calories back encouraged him to begin exercising. Now he walks daily, does aquafit five or six times a week, and Tai chi a couple.

Engagement in the process has been stellar for controlling his diabetes, even though he doesn’t track his sugars or carbs.

springlering62, Thanks for the welcome, and the tip about the database. Thankfully I don't have to worry about my weight yet. I guess I'll just make sure I come as close as posable when using the database. I'm glad to hear your husband was able to get off the meds and is doing better.
