Weight loss Smoothies!

For the past 2 months I've been using smoothies to help get my 4 servings of veggies and 3 servings of fruit in a day. (even though I don't usually meet that requirement everyday) Anyway, I love them, they always taste so good and feel more like a dessert than a healthy meal or snack. I have a few smoothie books with some great recipes but I would love to get some more. I thought I would share a few of my favorite recipes with you. Hopefully some of you like to make smoothies too and will share a recipe you enjoy!!
This first one is great for a post workout snack. I got the recipe from a magazine a while ago.
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup of frozen chopped spinach
- 1/2 cup of blueberries (fresh or frozen)
-1.5 cups of almond milk
- 2 tbsp. of almond butter
-2 tsp. of honey (optional)
- Ice (optional
When I make this I use it as a meal replacement because it fills you up, plus the peanut butter gives you plenty of protein.
- 1/2 banana
- 1/2 cup of peanut butter (you can use low fat if you want or use almond butter instead)
`1/2 cup of skim milk or almond milk
- 1 tbsp. of chocolate whey protein powder
- 6 ice cubes
This was one of my first "green" smoothies I tried, I was scared it might taste bad at first but you only taste the fruit.
- 2 handfuls of spinach
- 1 handful of kale
- 10 baby carrots
- 1 banana
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt
- 1 cup of frozen mixed berries
** Blend the spinach, kale and OJ together until only flecks of green remain. Then add all other ingredients and blend until smooth**
If anyone has any tips on how to get more vegetables in during the day I would love to hear them!
