Congrats on getting started, and welcome to the boards.
Every first step is a ….first step, so good for you for buckling down to make the effort.
But this has no meaning, no context. Did you weigh everything? Log it into your diary and count the calories?
For”old” me, a serving of chips was a family sized bag of salt & vinegar. At 12 (?) servings per bag, that was 1680 calories versus 140.
What kind of bun? Fancy brioche buns can be very costly, caloriewise. We (hubs is here on MFP, too.) seldom even eat a Sunbeam type bun these days. Tomorrow night will be BBQ pork sandwiches for dinner, and we’ve agreed to simply toast some Lewis Bakeries slices. Same effect, half or less of the calories.)
How big were those sliders? Type of beef? 93% versus 80% lean? Did they have blue cheese in them or cheddar on them? A gob of Mayo or trendy creamy sauce?
We won’t even go into the fruit cup, says the lady who makes and eats her lunchtime salads from a mixing bowl. I could do serious chowing down with an unweighed bowl of fruit, lol.
You’ve got a wonderful tool right here at your fingertips. Take the time to read the stickies at the top of each board section, order yourself a good scale, begin seriously thinking about what goes into your shopping basket.
We’ve both had great success using MFP, but you’ve got to sit down and put a bit of thought into it.
Hugs, and much success!!!! (I never wish luck, because luck and weight loss are like that fish and bicycle thing. There is NO luck in weight loss, unless you count finding such a great app, lol.)2 -
To Spring's excellent advice, I'd add this: If those were normal (pretty tiny) sliders without many high-calorie toppings, and a normal (tiny) fruit cup, that part isn't very many calories. (The chips could add a lot, and because the site is international, we don't know exactly what your chips are - like deep fried potato wedges/strips/chunks, or potato crisps?)
So, depending on the potatoes, that could be . . . not enough calories. Eating too little to lose fast: Not a good plan.
For sure, if I ate that in normal portion sizes, and that's all I ate for the whole day . . . I wouldn't feel full and happy at all. If that's true for you, maybe rethink the menu. Constant gnawing appetite isn't sustainable.1 -
In the beginning logging your food is important to see how many calories you're consuming per day. MFP gives you a daily goal based on your stats. Log those sliders and chips carefully. There are threads explaining how to log correctly if you have difficulty. Just stay within your goal everyday. Remember to log your sauces. They are usually high calorie.1
