When you overindulge

Just curious how people here deal with those days that they "slip up". Maybe you started the day off well, but ended up way over your daily calorie goals. Or you decided to go out on a Saturday night, have too many drinks and finish the night with half a pizza? Do you just start the next day fresh and just carry on, business as usual? Or do you get to the gym asap and slam out an extra hard cardio session to help burn off some of those extra calories from the day before?
I try not to beat myself up for it, but when I overindulge, I usually try to make sure over the next few days, I'm burning a little more than usual, whether it be an extra cardio session or a longer hike or bike ride than usual.
No right or wrong answer here, just curious about how everyone else deals with their shortfalls.

Slips are ok as long as they don’t become new habits. Get back into the routine and keep grinding. At least that’s how I have dealt with it over the last two years.
Usually slips lead to painful indigestion or feeling sick since I haven’t had that kind of bad food in a while.1 -
I just get back to business as usual the next day -no extra workouts or anything like that - consistency over time is the main thing - i don’t like to correlate exercise as a punishment for what I ate if that makes sense - I read somewhere exercise should be about what your body CAN Do - not a punishment for what you ate and that stuck with me -5

Get up, go again1

i used to punish myself and like had lil berating voice in my head, but a nice person told me its good for your body to occasionally get too much or too little and not eat the exact same every day so whether or not that’s true i just try to believe it now3

Get up, and back to normal again. Like someone said ... just try not to let it become the normal to overindulge often.1
