I have previously used 'My Fitness Pal' to assist in food and activity tracking and recently decided that i needed to have a significant slim down and et pout to get my fitness back on track. I guess that being shielding over lockdown had just helped bad habits return and i had to make a determined effort - Plan60 is my project, to be in much better shape next june when i hit my big 60th. So from June 2022 to September 30th 2022 I hav managed to lose 11.4kG, leaving me at 95.4kG and over halfway to my goal of 88kG (or even 85kG).
Having spoken to a PT / weight loss specialist he was quite dismissive of BMI as a metric but instead focussed on % body fat which weas interesting.
I use 'my fitness pal' to log my food and exercise and always aim for a colorie defecit of 500 / day to give 3500 / week in order to lose around 0.5kG / week. My Garmin and the fitness pal give me a lot of the help i need andchanged eating and drinking habits (I find the books by Tom Kerridge have some superb healthy recipes that keep me on track)

Congrats.
Body fat % is better than BMI. Adding weight as muscle leads to higher BMI. Recomp of fat to muscle keeps the same BMI.
The problem is getting an accurate measurement. The Navy method is easy and fairly reliable. Scales are notoriously inaccurate, though may be useful for trends. DEXA's can be hard to get.
