Calorie intake

Hi

I am on a caloric deficit of 1500 but some days I will not even eat a 1000 calories.

My question is that would it be a problem if I sometimes eat less then my caloric deficit and would that impact my body metabolism or even slow it down further as my body might get used to eating even less calories and won’t really notice the 1500 calorie deficit?

I'm eating 1200 calories a day. When I first started, I found that at the end of the day sometimes I had quite a few calories left over so I would eat some red grapes and string cheese or something light like that. Good advice above. Good luck!

Yes, consistently under-fueling your body will have significantly negative consequences. The calorie goal that is given to you is a GOAL, not a limit. Eat at least that much.

The old saying of '500 calories per day (deficit) will = 1lb of weight loss per week'....just isn't true. I lost .8lbs/week on average during my active weight loss phase and my deficit was 100-300 cals/day.

Many people simply do not have enough wiggle room between their BMR and TDEE to cut out 500 calories per day.

Hi guys I just would like to say I’m not on purpose under eating it’s just something that ends up happening but I will take advice given and start to eat all my calories it’s just at night I sometimes do not feel like eating anymore. I understand the muscle concept as I have lost of muscle before dieting in a similar way but on Keto rather than calorie tracking. I appreciate all your comments it’s honestly great to have support and refreshing to sometimes hear other peoples views.

If you're able to eat nuts, they're a good thing to add calories without being very filling.

Eat more calorie dense foods. Full fat stuff if you are currently using 'low fat' varieties. Add in some dried fruit or nuts, nut butters....etc.
