help with diet please friends

Hello,
I'm so excited to finally be a member here! I'm 5'5. 160lbs. 24 yo. I've been 120lbs ish for most of my hs/college life. Then, I got married, had two kids, and now am at 160! I've always been skinny fat. This time since I have the opportunity to start all over, I want to do it right.

So this is what I do:
Wake up eat bkfast arnd 8
Go to the gym around 11-12
>>I do 30-40 min in the weight room working out 2 major body parts 4 days a week (working out till I can do another rep..im always sore the next day)
>>I do 30 mins of cardio 5 times a week
Come home protein shake
lunch
snack
dinner around 8pm
sleep around 12

For my diet: I track everything on myfitnesspal (username sukaina12). I usually do 35%carbs 35%protein and 30%fat.
I normally eat 1500 calories a day
1500 is my rmr
1800 i burn while being sedentary
so basically I'm creating a deficit of 300 not including exercise everyday. Plus approx 300 calories per day from cardio 5 days a week.

In two weeks, I've went from 160.0 to 159.4.. I know the number on the scale doesnt matter that much but I've also only lost a half inch from my waist and a 1/4" from both thighs and 1" from my hips.

It seems like I must be doing something wrong because I'm working really hard with minimal results. Thank you so much to everyone in advance. Any help will be greatttttlllyyy appreciated! I want to be lean, not terribly muscular (not that I could do that anyway haha).

This is going to sound counter intuitive but try eating less protein. I eat about 50-60% carbs, 25-30% fat, and 10-15% protein and I've managed to lose weight and keep it off, and still tone. Also, the protein shake might not be helping.. I've tried losing weight with protein shakes and, unless you completely replace a meal with the shake, you will almost always gain weight when you add it to your diet without removing another meal or snack. Try eating fewer times during the day as well. It's a myth that your metabolism will shut down if you don't eat every 2-4 hours. While you probably won't gain weight from eating more meals as long as you stay within your calorie goal, you aren't likely to lose as much.

You're doing great. A 1/2 inch in 2 weeks? Wouldn't you be happy to lose an inch per month? Sounds good to me! I'm assuming the exercise routine is new? Retaining extra water to help muscle repair is normal. Because you are always sore, I am willing to wager that is happening for you. Give it a while longer. And be sure you are taking a rest day when needed.

    Keep up the great work!

Sorry but you lost weight because you were at a calorie deficit, not because you cut protein... :noway:

I eat more than my body weight in protein everyday, I lost 25lbs that way and I am doing a good job keeping it off. Calories in vs out.

OP, what you are doing sounds good! losing half an inch in 2 weeks is quite good. Remember this is a marathon, not a sprint. I would keep the numbers the same IMO.
Meal timing is irrelevant to weight loss, eat when you want, whether it is 10 meals or 2.

And by all means do NOT cut down proteins lol
