Plateau

I’ve hit a weight loss plateau and I’m not sure what to do about it. I’ve gone from 210 to 180 and now I’m just staying there. Any tips?

How fast did you go from 210 to 180? And how long have you been stuck at 180?

It took about 4 months and I’ve been steady for about 3/4 weeks at 180

Are you female? How tall are you? How many calories per day are you eating?

I had the same thing happen at 1200 calories. I raised my calories to 1600 PLUS Exercise calories on top that. . .so about 1900-2000 per day.

Long-term large calorie deficits cause problems.

    Hi everyone!

I had this idea a little while ago since there are always so many people on here asking why they're having trouble losing weight. I'm working on a flow chart that might help some of these people pinpoint the problem. I was hoping that some of the more knowledgeable MFP-ers could have a look and give me some feedback? I'm sure there are some areas that could be more concise and helpful, or perhaps things I might have missed! Hopefully this could become something of use to people around here, and I haven't seen anything like it made before (though please let me know if something like this already exists, haha).

It's a bit of a rough draft at the moment. If anyone is keen on collaborating let me know and I can share it on google docs, also if anyone is good at graphics-y stuff and wants to help me make it all pretty that would be cool too! :)

It feels like I'm stalling in my progress,
but it's only been 1 week for me.

I've restarted weight training, and I must remind myself that
“That stress and micro-tearing damage to the muscle fibers induces water retention in the body,” Dr. Calabrese explains. “There may be a small amount of inflammation around the micro tear, and your body retains fluid there to try to heal it.” These are short lived changes in the muscle.

Great job on losing the 30#.

    Recheck your diet/calories.
You have 30 less pounds of muscles/fat to burn these calories.
So increase your workouts, and/or reduce your calories.

    My suggestion: weight training:
create more muscles to burn more calories, so you can eat more.

    (I'm not an expert
but when I was seriously weight training, I used to eat 1600 calories and still losing weight for a 4'11" shortie).

There's already this flowchart floating around, not sure where it originally came from:
