New…again!

I am starting MFP once again. Wish me luck! I’ll plan to lose 2 pounds per week and I want to lose a total of 32 pounds!

    Hello, and welcome (back)!

I have to say - as an anxious-granny type - that 2 pounds a week is a pretty aggressive goal, if 32 pounds is the total amount you have left to lose to reach a healthy weight. The lighter we get, a bigger deficit is not only harder to stick with, it can bring higher health risks with it. To lose 2 pounds a week, you need 1000 calories daily deficit (some combination of eating less and doing more), which is quite a lot to do, while still aiming for adequate overall nutrition/energy.

For myself, it helped a lot to think of the last few 10s of pounds in terms of finding and grooving in relatively happy new habits of eating and activity that I could keep up almost on autopilot to stay at a healthy weight long term. A high calorie deficit with the goal of fast loss kind of aims in a different direction. Quite a few people seem to find maintaining harder than losing. New, practiced, sustainable habits IMO are the key to maintaining. (FWIW, I'm in year 7 at a healthy weight, after 30 previous years of overweight/obesity.)

    Just my opinion, though.

Regardless what you decide, I'm cheering for you to succeed in your goals!
