What's y'all's favorite gym and why do you think it's the best?
Personally I like that LA fitness machines and equipment but the ppl are competitive. Plus the sales ppl are really pushy.
Planet fitness is smaller when less equipment. So you have to figure out what else to do while you wait but ppl are less competitive but you still run into the ones who think they own the gym lol

Honestly the best gym I went to was the Y. The Y in my town is big and updated and modern. Everyone there is really nice and no one bothers no one else. Everyone who goes there all have the mind set of minding their own business. Everyone is quiet. No one blasts their music. It's so chill and respectful.

My local YMCA is the best. There are plenty of machines, group wellness classes that range from extremely intensive to easy for everyone with instructors that love to help you modify, you can ask to arrange a personal trainer but no one is harrassing you about it ever, everyone is helpful if you are struggling or confused but no one is judgemental, they have child watch for those of us that need it and all the programs are included in the cost. Ours has 2 pools and has a sister relationship with 2 other locations so they are all 3 your "home" location. If you go just a few times a month you can also go to any location nationwide when traveling.

I can't say enough about the YMCA. I used to go to Planet Fitness and had a Balley's Total Fitness. I visited Gold's and some others. I seriously love the Y comparitively.

My favourite gym is the outdoors and my flat. Seriously, being on the spectrum a room (or several) with loud music, too many people, noise of people working out and blinking screens drives me nuts. There's a nice crossfit box around the corner that would allow me to use their weights, but they advertise with kicking people out who wear a mask, and don't you dare being vaxxed. No thanks.

My favorite gym was the one that my buddy and his wife own. It's a private studio gym that isn't open to the public and most people there have to be working with one of the trainers. A handful of people like my wife and myself who are their friends had executive memberships and were able to workout there on our own. My wife still works out there, but unfortunately it's a little out of my way to get there from either home or after work on my commute. I'm not really much of a gym rat so the gym has to be convenient for me to get to or I end up just skipping it.

I currently workout at Defined Fitness which I think is the best corporate gym franchise in New Mexico. To my knowledge it's the only big box gym here that has the equipment for and allows Olympic lifting. It is very convenient for me in that it is only about 2 miles away from my office so it's easy for me to go over my lunch break a few times per week.

My favourite gym is my university gym because it's 1/3 of the price of any other options + it's 4 minute walk from my office and they have very decent equipment, so considering it's all I can afford, I'm very lucky.

Having worked in several gyms over my career, probably the best gym equipped gym was Las Vegas Athletic when I would go there. I currently love my gym because we keep it organized and clean and our equipment is well maintained. We are missing pieces I wish we had, but that just means I have to do free weight versions of the same movement.
I would love to build my own home gym, but the space I want would need to be bigger than what I have now.

Both the best and worst gyms I've worked out in have been on military bases. You expect military members to be, on average, better fitness than the average public, and many of the base gyms certainly catered to this mindset, with tons of equipment, a robust weight room, variety of activities available, etc. But at least one base gym was so pathetic, I could get more done at home using only bodyweight calisthenics.

I haven't really had much experience with gym other than the gyms I had access too while in college and grad school - and Planet Fitness since there is one literally a minute from my house. It's cheap, has the equipment I need (at least more than I have access to at home). Does the job. No one bothers me. I'm not at a point of lifting weights where I need more than what is available there.

Home gym in my spare room. I can do everything I need to with my bars, loadable db's and plates. No people to deal with. No mess. No commute. My own TV. Monthly gym subs would soon be more expensive than my total spent too.

My local Y is too crowded. I spend so much time waiting around and some people, older especially, take so much time between sets I get frustrated. My favorite historically is OrangeTheory because of the high calorie burn and music and I don't have to make any decisions about what to do. Lots of camraderie with other guests. But after a few years it ended up too high intensity for a back problem that got worse. Right now I'm a member at Planet Fitness, which is a fantastic price and plenty big for the crowds, but I lose motivation to go because it's not as close to my house as others

I loved the Y in Hollywood, FL. The guy at the door greeted me by name, it had more than enough stuff for me, it was clean, the indoor AND outdoor pools were saline-cleaned (rather than chlorine), there was a very nice overhead track, the Women On Weights (or something to that effect) small group class was great. I don't know how the weights got re-racked, but they did.

At the LA Fitness in Hollywood, FL the weights did not get re-racked by members or staff  I had several other complaints but that was the main one.

Since I moved back to Massachusetts, I haven't been happy with my choices and haven't had a membership in years. For several years I did belong to a local gym where cleanliness and maintenance was NOT a priority. I also tried out a Y that was a nice facility, but overly crowded even right before close and the pool used chlorine rather than saline.

I volunteer at my town's senior center and found out they have pool passes for a gym that does use saline. I thought I might want to join it, but at $99 a month I'll pass. Planet Fitness has everything I need but a pool.

Yes, I have your intolerances too and could only go to gyms at very off peak times, which could be quite limiting. I'm not doing as much weights as I'd like to, but part of that is due to injuries that took/are taking a ridiculously long time to heal. I've always preferred the outdoors for cardio.

    So I've got a tie
1st one is my home gym that I've been a member at since 2006. It's just home for me. It's not perfect but it's where I've put in the most work to get where I'm at so far in my journey

Other 1st is the Dowd YMCA in Charlotte. It's a massive 3 story gym with every bit of equipment imaginable and more than enough that even during busy hours it doesn't feel so crowded. DeI loved working out there when I visited it but it's was a little bit outta the way for me
