Steps vs Workouts

My app is linked to my Apple Watch to capture my daily steps. I also do daily walking workouts; dedicated time/distance/heart rate. Since my steps are already captured, do I still add my waking as workouts in the workout section of the app? Or will that double up my steps? Thanks!

That would be double counting. Either sync your watch or enter the exercise manually, don't do both.1

I wear my watch every single day up until bed time so my watch to MFP selection is as follows.
It credits me adjusted daily walking(just steps). Whenever I log any other exercise that has steps associated like an actual walk/hike, jog/run or elliptical it is separate from the steps adjustment. It doesn't double credit and I don't worry about having to manually keep track.1
