It sounds like your dad wants to buy himself a car and give you an eating disorder. 10 lbs a month is a pretty aggressive weight loss goal for anyone, even someone with 100 lbs to lose, and it is almost a certainty that you won’t lose it steadily and to a specific time scale. Why is 10 months the magic number - why not a full year? Why not two years? I have just lost 76 lbs in about 18 months. I didn’t think I had that much to lose. The weight did not come off at an even pace. If you intend to keep the weight off you should be losing it in a sustainable way no matter how long it takes. If you are 20 it is the perfect time to think about your eating and health habits and what YOU (not your dad) want them to be and WHY.

I’d suggest putting the car aside for now. Your dad is using it as motivation because he wants to get your attention. He is worried about your health. Do you also think you weigh 100 lbs too much? If so, what reasons do you have for wanting to get healthy?

Umm you've given me something to think about for sure I was ready to jump in with both feet caution to the wind honestly. I just thought I could do it with a goal in mind and something to work towards 10 months is a personal goal I want to see if I can if I put too long on it like 2/3 years it won't give me the extra push I need to stick to it. if that makes sense ?

I suggest you do your journey your way with some sound information. Educate yourself and talk to your doctor. Then find thing you enjoy, change it up each season, and try new ways to see if you might want to add them, but most of all love you no matter what you way and tell your dad he should do the same in a nice way. Best of luck.

Aggressive goals can be motivating . . . but hard to stick with the required deprivation long enough to lose a meaningful total amount of weight.

Easy methods (smaller calorie deficit, slower loss) are easier to stick with long enough to reach goal (and help us learn how to stay there, since we can figure out habits that work for us as individuals) . . . but don't have those quick rewards right away.

Fast loss, if followed by slip-ups, or even giving up altogether, can take more calendar time to reach goal weight versus that more slow and steady boring approach.

You'll need to find your own right balance, but if you've tried a million times and it hasn't worked . . . maybe try a different approach this time? The time is going to pass either way.
