How do I add items to my data base without them being added to my daily count?

It sounds as if you may be trying to create a new food, instead of searching and adding the item from our extensive database.

The "create food" or "my food" section is for adding food that is not already in our database: for instance a local brand that no one has previously logged, or even a homemade food.

However, most everyday items should be searchable in our extensive database, which houses over 2 million items.

To search for an item, just choose a meal category, such as breakfast, go to "add to." At the top of the next page, you should see a long white box, type the item you are looking for directly inside that box and hit search. A list of matching search results should then appear. Scroll through the results until you find the one that best matches your request.

If you are not finding your particular result, try narrowing the search by adding keywords, like "generic," "raw," "natural" "organic," or try making the word plural.

If you are using our Android or iOS apps, you can also tap the barcode icon and scan any pre-packed labels that use a standard UPC, directly into your diary.
