Hi, I’m new and I have started on yet another try to lose 25 lbs to start. I’m 66 years old so it isn’t as easy as it used to be.

Hello, and welcome!
I'm 67 myself, but used MFP to lose weight at 59-60, now maintaining.
Slow and steady wins this race, and I think it's a plus that our age we know ourselves pretty well. We know our strengths, preferences, challenges, etc. . . . and how to work with those patiently over time to achieve big goals. We've all done that, though the situations vary: Getting an education, building a career, creating a nice home, raising a family, learning various complicated skills along the way for hobby or practical reasons. Those same skills - patiently chippou ming away in small ways, moving toward the big goals - apply here, too, I think.
You can do it!
You might want to check out the 60+ thread:

It has lots of people our age, at all stages of weight management, from just starting out to maintaining after loss. Like any long-running discussion thread here, you'll find the newest posts at the end, on the high-numbered pages. You can jump straight there, if you like, but it may make sense to read the last couple of pages at the end to get a sense of who's participating.
Wishing you much success with your goals!0
