Non-floor exercises

It would be nice to have strengthening, stretching and toning exercise videos that don't require getting on your knees or the floor available in our program app. Any thoughts?

I use the free Body Project videos. All of the newer videos are all standing. The exercises are very easy but you can add weights to make them more challenging. They usually have low impact and high impact options too depending on your level of fitness. They also have paid options if you want a more structured exercise routine.

Check out Pahla B on YouTube. She does workouts for ladies of “a certain age” and states clearly that staying off the floor is a signature part of her workouts. Also, I’d note that her workouts are pretty effective no matter what your age. I especially like her approach that doing a little every day is better than going so hard one day that you’re wiped out for days afterward.

I endorse the above, plus there are lots of exercises on Youtube that are purely standing (including seated chair exercises, some of the vigorous enough to train wheelchair athletes, who are no slouches in the fitness department). If you're a senior, Silver Sneakers and AARP have exercise videos that don't include floor exercises, though you might need a membership for those (not sure).

It sounds like you'd like MFP to include some non-floor exercises in its "exercise plans", though: Is that what you're getting at?

If so, it would be more effective to say that in a post here:

The MFP staff doesn't read all the Community posts (how could they ever keep up?!). That area is specifically for recommending things that would improve the app, and they do read those.
