Take heart: It can really work!
I had the joint aches, and though I wasn't on cholesterol & BP meds quite yet, my doctor was telling me I needed to start some . . . which was what finally flipped the switch in my brain, and finally got me to lose weight at age 59-60. Within a year, my cholesterol & BP are solidly normal, and my joint pain - from osteoarthritis and at least one torn meniscus - was dramatically reduced, from frequently painful to occasionally uncomfortable (huge change). I started to see some benefits in blood test and pain levels even before reaching a healthy weight, though getting to a healthy weight and staying there (for 7 years now) really sealed the deal. So worth it!
I see people post here pretty often who were already on the drugs, and were able to reduce them, sometimes eliminate them entirely.
You can do this. I often suggest that people think about how to make the process easier, rather than faster. Finding, practicing and integrating personally-practical positive habits is key IMO, because we all have different preferences, strengths, and challenges.
I'm cheering for you to succeed!
