Barcode scanner not working

When did the barcode scanner quit working? I am a registered nurse coordinator for endocrinology. We recommend this all the time for our diabetic patients but if it is not going to work properly, we will have to look for a new site. Please advise if the barcode scanner is broken? We have been using this for years. Thank you David Speicher, RN.

The scanner isn't broken, but it has become a paying feature.
With the free version of the app you can still add food to three diary, you just need to type search terms in the search bar instead.

I just paid to upgrade to premium and about half of the bar codes I'm scanning are coming up messages saying the item can't be found. We're talking brand name run-of-the-mill items. WTF? I've used this app for years and never had a problem with the bar codes. They made it a pay feature so I went ahead and paid for it and now it doesn't work most of the time!
