Sugar question - New Member

How does the program come up with sugar grams? I track 'added' sugars in foods. The program tracks all sugars. Just 1.5 cup of non-fat milk, and I've already met the programs quota.

    Sugar is sugar on MFP.
Added sugar is only a recent addition to food labels, and specifically in the US, so many food database entries don't have that info, even if though a field for it exists when creating new food database entries on the desktop website.

Thanks. But where does MFP get the goal figure for sugar. Everyone on the web only talks about 25 grams max of added sugar. Same question for other items. Where here can I find the RDA recommended values for each item.

Not 'everyone' talks about 25gr per day, the FDA had a guideline of max 10% of calories, which is 50gr for a 2000 kcal daily intake.

Since MFP's goal is for total sugar, it makes sense that the goal would be higher, taking into account that most people will also consume natural sugars.

I think a lot of MFP goals are based on US recommended values (but I'm just guessing, not being American myself).
