I am a premium member and according to advertising when adding a food to my diary I should be able to search local restaurants

I am not a premium member and I can still see restaurant info in the food database. What exactly are you looking for that you can’t find? You probably won’t find data about local non-chain restaurants unless someone from that business has entered it in the database.

I agree with Rockmama. The restaurants in the database will be U.S. based restaurant chains. They have all their nutrition info online so can be migrated into the database. This is a U.S. based website/company.

The other thing to keep in mind is that restaurant food nutrition is based on the recipe they use. Cooks/chefs don't necessarily follow recipes to the tee. I've worked in restaurants and I would advise that restaurant nutrition information should be taken very loosely. I always figure they are "off" by 200-500 calories per menu item. It is very easy to use 2TB of oil/butter instead of one, two ounces of cheese instead of one. Three ounces of sauce instead of two, etc...or all the above in one dish!

You're not going to find anything from a local restaurant unless that particular restaurant has chosen to enter that information into MFP. Restaurants are only required to maintain nutritional data if they have 20 or more locations as it is a financial burden to have menu items sent to a lab to have that data processed. Most local establishments do not keep nutritional data on hand.
