Hello all,
Just joined the community after stepping on the scale and seeing 'those' numbers. Sadly I did something I never expected when life became traumatic, I started some really bad eating habits. What are some of those bad eating habits?
binge eating
sneaky eating
emotional eating....eating when angry, sad, happy, you name the emotion & chances are I'm eating my way through the emotion of the moment.
There are a few problems that have popped up over the last couple of months:
sore joints
loss of energy
loss of money (clothes that fit 2 months ago no longer fit)
Was going to put this off until the beginning of the year, but, I just got through eating a boatload of crap. I was a chubby kid, but when I found out about boys, I got myself in shape. Well, fast forward a couple of decades, I'm no longer a kid and my boy craziness faded quite a while ago. So now here I am wanting to get healthy. There is still a small part of me that wants to return to a size 2 once again, but this time around, I'll settle for a healthy size 8. The difficulty for this time around is my joints are giving me a hard time, so doing any sort of exercise like walking, jogging, running is out of the question. I do have access to a pool, but there are a ton of birds that use the pool as a bird bath and well, there is no way I am swimming through feathers & bird droppings.
So here I am being an adult and taking accountability for my eating habits.
This is step 2. The first step was downloading "Pedometer Step Counter" from the app store. It's quite helpful. The best part of it is the 2 minute workouts. The last time I used the app I lost 14 pounds. It was a combination of walking & doing some exercises. I was so happy. Then I got cocky.
Big mistake. Big. Huge.
A couple of months later I stopped those 2 minute exercises & a few weeks later I stopped walking.
There was another big, huge mistake that I made. Eating crap. Yep, that's right, I kept eating cakes, cookies, fried food, bread, bagels, etc, etc, etc. Well, of course everyone knows what happens next. That's right, a quickly expanding waistline.
Last night was going through the closet to see what I was going to wear through the holidays and well, just about everything I put on made me look like the Pillsbury Doughboy's twin sister. It was not a pretty sight. I thought about doing something, so I pulled up the step counter app. Found the 2 minute exercises and thinking about doing them. Almost did them last night but it was late and decided to start them in the morning. Got up this morning, started counting calories while eating breakfast & quickly became discouraged.
Note to self: don't count calories in the middle of a meal, just enjoy the meal & fix it later.
So I'm here to get back into the habit of proper eating and a bit of movement. During this time I'm hoping to get on here every day and at least say hello.
If you've taken the time to read this, thank you very much.
Have a wonderful day!
