Perhaps it would be best to chat to your child's doctor about this or see a dietician who specialised in children's nutrition.

Definitely work with your child's doctor on this. No one on the internet knows your child or their particular needs or situation.

My daughter did nutritional and occupational therapy for slow weight gain and sensory issues regarding food. I agree with PPs to ask your child's doctor about this (including if it's necessary to begin with!)

As general advice, if your child needs to gain weight but isn't, I would suggest picking high calorie but still nutritious foods. Nuts and nut butters, whole fat dairy products, cooking foods in butter or olive oil, avocado, etc. Keep offering a wide variety of foods and let your child see you eat healthily too. My daughter was much more willing to try things off my plate, and I let her for a while even though that's not something I usually permitted my other children to do.

The most intensive part of this occurred when she was a toddler. I would offer very different advice for, say, a teenager or an infant who can't eat solids yet. We don't have a lot of information. Your child's doctor can offer advice or refer to specialists who can help with a more specific approach suitable for your child.
