Hello, I have decided for the 20th time that I want to lose weight. I say the 20th time because I have always said in the past that I wanted to but by the next day I lose all motivation. I don't understand why. Usually at night I get this big boost of motivation to eat better and go to the gym and exercise. But when I get home from work (I do commercial construction), all I want to do is sit around and relax and go to sleep. I want to lose weight and feel better, I just lack the motivation or the discipline to do it. If you have struggled with this before, I could really use some advice.

Maybe you should try something different? I'd suggest forming good habits, and not relying on motivation, which you've discovered doesn't last long. Also do one thing at a time. If you've got your daily calorie goal, start weighing and measuring all your food and drink. Get a digital scale. Stay within that goal everyday.
If you do construction, you're already exercising, and maybe instead of the gym, you could start walking. There are so many things to do to move more, and it helps if it's something you enjoy. Small changes--one at a time will get you where you want to go. Keep trying new things and improve your life slowly. Good luck.0 -
I'm having the same problem. I just don't know where to start it seems like nothing sticks for long . One of my biggest problem is depression. I get feeling bad about myself and start eating.0

You have to have a routine and then be consistent with it. Believe it or not, gaining weight over the years is a routine. Unless you break that, you'll keep gaining weight or stay the same weight.
Start small. Maybe just walk a mile a day. Then add on. 180 degree changes rarely last long because most people aren't ready for that type of change intantaneously.
