Introducing Myself

Hey everyone. So I saw this topic and though I would add to it.
My name is Shayla, I was born in Alberta Canada, but I live in Ontario Canada. Im 19-turning 20 in January. I'm approximately 5' 8". The heaviest I have ever been is 195kg.
The reason I joined MFP was mainly to help keep track of my regular foods (to see where I might need adjustment) and to see how many Cal's I get on average.
The reason I'm trying to lose weight? Well that's not precisely what I'm actually doing, but rather it's just a side affect. I was born with Asthma and Flat feet, and never thought much about doing heavy physical activity. I have though thought about being a police officer or joining the Canadian army, but as I got older I thought poorly of myself and gave plenty of excuses as to why I couldn't do it.
Unfortunately February 2012 my father, who never drank or smoked, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, and shortly thereafter in September 2012 he passed away. He was a loyal officer in Peel region for 36 years, and when he passed I realized that the only one stopping me from reaching for my dreams WAS me.
So although it came from a heavy heart I have discovered my dream, and I am following through all the way. I go to the gym, I run 3k every other day. I eat as healthy as I can (or as any broke college student can, lol) and I won't back down from the challenge. This summer alone I have lost 20kg and have gone from doing the 3k in half an hour to 20 minutes. They may seem like small steps, but every step counts!
I look forward to talking on the Forum's with you all and watching as I make progress in my future.

First, I am sorry for the loss of your father. You are making great strides and I'm sure he would be proud of you. Is that you in the picture? If so, may I ask a question? You said the largest you've ever been is 195 kg? Almost 430 pounds? Or was that a typo? If it is a typo, the change is still remarkable. If it isn't, that is utterly outstanding.
Good luck on your journey. You are well on your way. This can be a great place for support and motivation. Welcome to the jungle.0 -
Ah yes the was definitely a Typo on my part...auto-correct is more a pain then an assitive device nowadays.
And he is my motivation. If he could do it so can I. I will prove it with every step I take. I was doubtful at first but others are beginning to notice the changes, and it become the proof that I can, and so I will.
And thank you very much for your kind words.0
