Have any of been diagnosed with a hip laberal tear? If so, did you get surgery or were you put on physical therapy? What exercises are you able to do without pain or risk of further injury? If you ran before diagnosis, can you run again now? I was officially diagnoses in October 2012 after 2 months of agonizing pain and immobility. OS ordered an MRI and my insurance demanded PT; I did the PT and the doctor reordered th MRI upon the recommendation of the PT. Again by insurance denied th referral so my doctor went to bat for me and I finally got the MRI in November. It showed a small tear so the doctor recommended and scheduled surgery after a cortisone shot directly into my hip socket helped temporarily. He said even if it only helped a day it would show that is where the pain is from. However, A week before my February surgery he tells me I didn't need it and that the pain was coming from my back. Really? After everything you told me and put me through? So, I went for a second opinion. Again, I was ordered physical therapy. I went to my first session where the discovered I had n SI joint out of place (one leg was literally longer than the other) so she readjusted it and showed me exercises I could do at home since I could not afford to miss work for three sessions of work or pay $45 a week on copays. The doctor said the tear was there bit it was minimal and worsen as long as I am careful. However, he wasn't clear on what careful was. The Pt I was given is designed to keep my SI joint in line and also the strengthen the muscles around my hip to support my hip from strain.
Any stories on this situation and exercises will be great. I don't want to worsen it but I want to live too.
