    Welcome!

Forget the fads. Trash the trends. The solution is simple, but not easy; eat fewer calories than you expend. That's it!

    What is your first goal?

Well dang. @mtaratoot beat me to those exact words.

Spend some time reading these boards, especially the stickies at the top of each. Learn which posters have the most informed and reliable input, with experience and results.

Lots of people will come here touting and spouting fad diets and bad advice. You’ll generally recognize them y their low post count, and if you click on their user IDs, will often see they’ve joined in the past week or two, or haven’t revisited the site after the first few days. Be particularly wary of those quoting influencers or social media.

I have learned so much from these boards about my body and what goes into it.

Find a simple reliable plan and stick to it, instead of darting around in hopes of a quick fix. They seldom happen and when they do, the weight comes right back. Slow and steady may seem maddening but it’s truly what works, and build those habits so you’re not in the 80% who regain.

One of my MFP "Friends" posted this on her newsfeed today. I will probably spread it around because it is appropriate to so many people, and it echoes what @springlering62 just wrote. Ignore the svelte model; normal people usually won't attain that physique.
