Brand New and welcome any words of encouragement!

I just signed up for premium today. I have been doing WW for a while but did not see any change. I have struggled with depression and thyroid disease for a few years but am doing better, but now would like to lose the weight I gained because of those issues which is about 100lbs (I'd be happy with any weight loss at this point). Any words of encouragement are greatly appreciated! None of my family struggle with weight or thyroid disease so I'm on my own on this journey at this point. Looking forward to a new year and a new me!

    There's a really good thread here about hypothyroidism and weight management, written by a guy who's a scientist in the field, himself hypothyroid (thyroid gland surgically removed IIRC), who lost weight by calorie counting:

    I'm severely hypothyroid myself, but now properly medicated, and found that thread to match my experience, and I was able to lose weight with MFP, too.

    I'm sorry to say I can't really speak to depression from experience, because pretty much only wrestled with it during cancer treatment, and in early widowhood, both of which are kind of situational and fortunately for me the effects were temporary. That topic seems more often to be discussed in this part of the Community, so that might be a good place to look or post to ask about others' experience with that:
