Trying to lose the weight as a birthday gift to myself for my 50th. 235lbs now and looking for 199 4/19/23.
18 gyms logged in since New Year. No alcohol and trying to eat well and stay motivated and committed. Good Luck to All and Embrace the Suck!

Wishing you much success, sounds like you're off to a great start.
I started working on fitness (i.e., better strength, flexibility, cardiovascular capability) when only a little younger than you, but stupidly waited until 60 to get to a healthy weight. I actually didn't perceive it as needing to suck - was kind of surprised at that, TBH.
Both of those things - getting more fit, reaching a healthy weight - were individually major quality of life improvements for me, and the combination is gangbusters for me at age 67. For me, the results on both fronts were satisfying enough that I fight back against some people's "too old to improve much" claims.
You're smart to start younger than I did on the combo. That'll pay off with patience and persistence, I predict.
You can do this - I'm cheering for you!0
