Dry January

I’m glad I found this group. 29 days AF.
Decided to continue after January. I challenged 3 of my friends. One didn’t make it the first day. The second one decided to try it for 5 days. I was proud of her for trying and succeeding for being 5 days dry. The third one didn’t want to. I am concerned that I won’t be invited as often and be considered “no fun”. Thoughts anyone?

2025 Edition!
I like to drink, not too much and taking a month off always feels like a good cleanse. I have tried it twice now and both times it was good. One of the dry Januarys I was invited to have a toast for an event and I did. Other than that one drink it was the whole month. The other time I made it through the whole month dry. Fewer calories, saved some money, it's worth it to try.2 -
It gets easier each time I say no to a drink at a social event. A lot of my former friends were drinks pushers and in the end we drifted apart as we didn’t have much in common as I was no longer drinking. It’s taken a couple of years for me to be at peace with a new identity as a non drinker. I don’t regret it. I like myself better without the drunk/hungover cycle at the weekend.2

Good. That's a thing, wondering what socializing will be. I want both to happily so socialize, and have dry January.

I had a really good run in October with "Sober October" and have started drinking too much again. I will join you for Dry January as I had already planned to.1

Good. I just heard a story on NPR and they mentioned "Sober October" I'd never heard of it before.

Welcome to 2025, welcome to a Dry January.0 -
Day 1, so far so good. I'm going to get out once it warms up and get a walk. Feels good.0

Day 2 was good. I have been exercising, and that seems like a good way of improving my sleep.0

I did 90 days dry in 2024.
Had a few glasses of wine over the holidays with no ill effects and no crazy cravings to drink daily again. So refreshing knowing that I can choose to drink if I want to once in a while and it's no big deal now.
However, I am doing dry January for a new challenge.1 -
I actually haven't had wine all week, so if I can stop the noise in my head that's insisting it wants a glass of wine tonight, this will be day 5. I can do it.2

It was a challenge winding down on a Friday night after a long week. I made it. Weekends are a different beast. So far so good.
How's everyone doing?0 -
I've made it though the first weekend, those are tough. So far, so good. Now we out of 'special occasions' and into 'day to day'. How are you doing?0
