Hola!

Hola!

I’m excited for this new journey. Diet is crucial to my results. I’ve been in the gym- working out for a few months and I don’t see the results I would like so I’m adding this to the plan.

Any tips would be helpful.

Hola, bienvenidos! (Oops, we're supposed to use English on this forum ;) .)

What do you mean by seeing results? If you mean weight loss, then yeah, exercise doesn't guarantee weight loss. It's pretty easy to eat just that little bit more (especially if exercise sparks appetite a little), not even notice. Personally, I went from a total couch-lump to a training, competing athlete over a couple of year period . . . and stayed overweight to obese for another dozen years while training. (Even my pretty-intense exercise 6 days a week wouldn't cover much more than a serving of peanut butter on whole grain bread or a handful of nuts, let alone one of those fancy sugar-loaded coffee drinks.)

If you mean improvements in muscle mass, those take time and patience under the best of circumstances . . . but are very much worth pursuing. From the experience mentioned above, I learned graphically and viscerally that a fat layer hides gains. I looked like a blobby middle-aged woman despite regular exercise. Only when I got down to a healthy weight did it become visible - to my surprise - that I'd actually had a tiny bit of li'l ol' lady definition hiding underneath that fat layer. Who knew? :D

What results are you looking for? What kind of program (exercise/eating) are you using to get there? Do you need to lose some weight, and if so, how much? Knowing things like that would help folks give you more on-point tips.

Beyond that, do some reading in the Community in threads that look relevant, dive in with on-topic questions in others threads or create your own, and you'll get plenty of things to try.

    Wishing you success!

If you are talking about weight loss results, some good tips that I have written before for starting out are:
    • Plan to go slow. If you are trying to lose weight, remember you didn't gain it in a month or a year; take the slow route to help assure success. Then it will be easier to maintain when you reach goal.
    • Don't plan any strategies you aren't willing to continue indefinitely. Only do things that are sustainable in the long run.
    • Plan on having a reasonable calorie deficit, on average, each week. Best if you can manage a small deficit each day, but if you miss a day, don't fret. Just keep going forward. Stick to it.
    • Yeah, that's it's own point: STICK TO IT!
    • Set reasonable but challenging goals. Set long-term and short term goals. What are some specific goals you have set for yourself?
    • Check in often. Don't stress if the scale is up for the day. Look over the long term trend; weight loss is not linear. You'll have up and down days. Over time, if you maintain a deficit, you'll trend down.
    • Exercise is very healthy for fitness. It can contribute to a calorie deficit and aid in weight management. You still must manage your food intake to assure a calorie deficit. Logging your food and your activity in MFP will help you get an idea how to slowly adjust your target for success.
