Exercise calories

Hi, I’m walking over 10,000 steps a day and MyFitnessPal only gives me back 6 calories? Is this correct.

What do you have your activity level set to?

Hi, it’s set on active, as I’m a cook and do a lot of walking throughout the day.

That's what it is then. MFP assumes a certain number of steps etc. for your activity level. You only start getting extra calories when you go above and beyond the assumption. Sounds like the active setting expects you to take about 10,000 steps as part of your regular life. It only becomes "exercise" that gives you calories after that point.

Then you have already been “given” calories for all those steps via the Active setting. You don’t want to be given them twice!

Hiya, on average 10k steps burns 500 calories. I wear a fit bit and it tracks my steps and calories burnt, I then manually enter it into my fitness pal

make sure your profile is set to sedentary if you are adding that manually! otherwise you are getting those “back” twice, which can negate your deficit
