Pushing 60

After making the decision, last September (2012), I joined a local gym and began undoing the damage of the previous 58 years.
So far, I have lost a total of 65 lbs. and have about 15 to go. Being a Type II diabetic with high blood pressure, has presented its challenges since being diagnosed 10+ years ago. Currently I am on no medications for either, anymore, and plan to keep it that way. Over the past year I have learned to eat to live rather than live to eat and it's a daily contest that most days I win. Food has always been an issue since I was teen but there comes a time when one must decide that if you want to grow old it's best to give yourself the best chance. Life will test you enough without adding to it.
Finding this site is going to provide for long term goals and tracking that I have been lacking. It's easy to say that I know how much and what I eat but now I really do.
