You are weighing the rice cooked? 100gr of cooked rice is approximately 130 calories, depending on the type of rice and how much water it absorbed.
100gr cooked rice = 130 cal
100gr of raw rice = 360ish cal.
Thus 130gr of cooked rice is 169cal
And it originates from approximately 47gr of raw rice
it doesn't mean that raw rice is more calorie dense but that cooked rice is heavier due to the absorbed water. Just like you'll gain weight if you drink or eat something due to the weight of what you put into your mouth. If you weigh yourself and you're 180kg, and you drink 1l of water and immediately step on the scale again you'll be 181kg until you pee/sweat it out again. Cool, he?1 -
I assumed it was normal to base calories on uncooked rice, since all you're adding is water anyway.0

That's not always available though. I only buy rice frozen or in the 90-second reheatable bags. I haven't seen a raw grain of rice to weigh in probably 3 or 4 years.0 -
Thank you!0
