Outwit, Outplay, Outlast…. SURVIVOR

I’ve been on a Survivor blowout. In the past week I’ve watched 3 season of survivor, my fav season so far being s38. I feel not even just me but a lot of people can relate to the players and the mental/physical struggle that they are experiencing, it’s truly inspiring. If you really want to challenge yourself you can watch this with your loved ones and bet on the players. As your player gets voted out the penalty is to do some form of workout like squats, push-ups, lunges, etc. The person who choses the winning survivor in the end gets some form of reward (food, shopping, money, etc). I do this with my fam and it is totally worth the pain and agony of those stinkin penalties. Side note: hands down the best survivor player is RUSSEL, if you know u know:)

Thank you so very much for this thread. For years I have wondered who in the hades watches these kind of reality shows. I figure there must be enough of an audience demand for networks to keep producing copy cat shows like the one you mentioned. I couldn't figure out what anyone could get out of something like "Lost" or "Survivor" or "Naked&Afraid", but you gave a good explanation, so yeah, thank you. Next, I wonder if this TV character, Russel, has some kind of skill set that sets him/her apart from the other actors?
I also wonder what is the attraction to these shows that display conflict up front and center. The complaining, fighting, back stabbing scenes are what all these type of shows seem to have in common. What is it about make believe disharmony that viewers are willing to put up with it, show after show?2
