I am starting a low carb way of life to get my health on track. I am 58 years old and 100 pounds overweight. I work as a bookkeeper and pretty much sit for the majority of my time. I would welcome any advice and encouragement I can get BUT I have done so much research on Keto/Carnivore and this is what I have set my mind to do. I had emergency surgery to have my gallbladder removed in 2017 so I have to start out slow!! Thank you in advance for the advice and encouragement. Good luck to you all!!!

    Hello, and welcome!

Starting out slowly is a good strategy, IMO. I've been around here a long time (almost 8 years, loss then maintenance), and the "Lose Weight Fast!" pedal-to-the-medal new folks often seem to burn out fast and disappear from view. (I can only hope they're offline somewhere, still working, and eventually achieving their goals, but . . . .)

There are also quite a few people here who are deep into losing a substantial amount of weight, and some in long term maintenance like me. I won't say it's universal, but that seems most like to be the "slow and steady", "find new habits", "remodel my eating/activity gradually" kind of people.

If you are interested, there are a bunch of posts over in the Success Stories area that you can read yourself, and get a feel for what works for people. Direct link here:

I think you're on the right track. Wishing you much success!
