Back!

Hello! I'm not new to myfitnesspal. I "cheated" on it for Weight Watchers, which I JUST quit. Weight wise it was working but, I am going through a difficult period with a lot of stress and chaos, and I just didn't want to "text" a whole message on my phone, because WW does not have the option of starting a new post on the website, only on the app (yes, I'm venting). And when I posted (and my fingers hurt from texting), some smart Alecs tried to tell me how an app cannot be used on a phone and others added to it "nobody gets it, lol". That did it and it took me a loooot of strength to not insult them back. No more WW! I was just hoping that I'll hear something that will help me get out of my madness right now. I don't have a kitchen d/t water damage. OK, it was doable up until last week when the kitchen sink and oven/range were removed. I can't cook both because I don't have a stove and because I can't wash the dishes (no, I won't wash them in the bathroom sink or tub). That has resulted in every day take out food, and as of yesterday, I was, "no more spending $100/day on take out" (and who knows till when). So... frozen foods/microwaveable foods (ugh) it is. I stopped tracking my points on WW since this started and not only did I not try to at least eat reasonably, I'm eating like a pig! I probably haven't gained back aaaaaall the weight I've lost on WW, but I've gained back enough to be afraid to put my clothes on and feel them being tight. Which causes me more frustration and disappointment and I eat like a pig to comfort (and almost to punish myself). There goes all my motivation and discipline. I've used my fitnesspal for a loooong time. I think that if you set your calorie limit, it works just as good. It's just a matter of getting back into the mindset. I am looking for some encouragement or something to make me snap out of this and get back on track :disappointed:

I personally think you made the right choice ditching WW points system — it doesn’t make any sense to me. It might work for a short time if one has not been paying attention to their eating habits at all, but at some point people need to become more sophisticated and precise. I am responding because you sound stressed and like you need someone to say welcome back and get going where you left off!

Go back and look at how your goals and statistics are set and recalibrate those if you have to so that you aren’t frustrated in a week or two because you have been aiming at the wrong goals.

Good luck with your renovation projects - if it is too difficult to lose right now, just figure out your maintenance calories and eat at that level until you can go back to a deficit and cook in a new kitchen.
    Sending good vibes
PS the first time getting on the scale/trying on the clothes etc when you have been purposely ignoring it is the hardest. Just get it over with (if you can) so you know what you are dealing with and then you can set up mfp correctly and get going - you already have your plan of action in place, and you have even come here - you just have to do the “wondertwin powers activate” part now …. There are a bunch of folks here ready to have your back if you do your part.

Thank you for your candidness. I can identify with your struggles. When you have a struggle like the dishwasher/stove, think can it be solved. You may want to get a dish tub (or two) and get the dishes washed. Wash out the bathroom sink if you have to pour it down there. I know it's not ideal but I've done it in hotels and also had to hand wash when my main waterline was broken and I had to do without my dishwasher for a while (1.5 weeks). Line a crockpot with a liner, make salad kits but that eating out is a killer.

The steps I've taken in my weight journey- 1. Intermittent fasting. It stops the constant sugar/insulin process. 2. After about 3 months of that, I also gave up sugars and only sugars. 3. I started a year long diabetes prevention class online where you attend weekly meetings but don't have to have any other exchanges with members online, etc. That is to keep me going for an entire year. 4 And lately I have given up grains and most every packaged food.

Wishing you the very best for your new journey.

Thank you both! I don't see an option to reply individually to your comments. Am I missing something? Cheryl, intermittent fasting is my norm, lol. I don't eat breakfast but I do have a coffee with the chobani sweet cream. I go to work, when I get back home I don't eat right away cause I usually have something to do, so I end up eating one meal and I don't tend to snack, so that's it. Sinister Barbie, thank you , yes I needed the encouragement. I don't know if I said it already but I am kinda using the whole stress and chaos as an excuse to eat mindlessly, but this has to stop. Thank you both, ladies! ♥️
