Hi, I’m a newbie here, changing over from WW.

How do you adjust serving size? TIA

A couple of ways, assuming you mean "how in the app" vs. "how to decide what to put on the plate".

For nearly all entries in the food database, there's a drop down (down arrow triangle symbol) on the serving size. When you click that, sometimes there will be other options there that work better for you.

Other than that, you can adjust the number of servings using arithmetic. I'll give a semi-complicated example:

Let's say I eat a serving of Doritos. The serving size in the database is 12 chips. By looking at the bag, I know that the serving size there is 28 grams/12 chips. I like to weigh my food on a food scale. Yesterday (for real), I ate 24 grams of Doritos.

What I would do is say "I ate twenty four twenty-eights (24/28) of a serving." Therefore, I divide 24 by 28 . That's 0.8571428571428571. Since the calculator gave me a stupid-long decimal value there, I'd mentally round it, to 0.86. I put 0.86 in the number of servings, and MFP does the math from there. Turns out that that equates to 10.32 chips. (Believe me, I did not count them!)

I hope that makes sense. Most of the time, I can weigh my food in grams, find a database entry in grams , and just log my number of grams with a "1 gram" option from the drop-down.

My grasp of applied math has certainly gotten better since I started using MFP! ;)
