Trying to drop 30

I workout hard but as they say, you can’t out train a bad diet. Trying ( again) to be diligent in tracking my intake.

    Hello, and welcome!

I hear what you're saying: I was fat most of my adult life, and stayed overweight to class 1 obese after getting very active in my late 40s/early 50s, training regularly and even competing as an athlete (not always unsuccessfully, in age-group terms). I was even mostly "eating healthy" (LOL) . . . just too much. A really good exercise session usually doesn't even equate to a good peanut butter sandwich on nice hearty whole-grain bread . . . and it's super easy to get that many excess calories in more subtle ways such as a little butter or cooking oil here, a little mayo there, a rich sauce or dressing even in a small portion, etc.

For me, food logic was the thing I needed: I've been at a healthy weight now for 7+ years since losing 50-some pounds. Quality of life and health markers are much improved, too. It took more time and mindshare at first, but now that I'm totally comfortable with using MFP's features, it's a rare day that takes as much as 10 minutes to track/log . . . and that few minutes seems like a small price to pay for the kind of impact it's had for me.

    Wishing you great success!
