55 and need to make some changes

Right now, I'm 55 years old and on the higher end of overweight on the BMI scale.

While I was quite fit in my 30s through my late 40s, due to a number of factors, I've let weight creep up on me over the last few years.

My wife and I booked a nice beach vacation and coincidentally, it's about 100 days out. The two of us decided to go all-in on an intense 12-week challenge.

Goals:

#1) Manage my lingering plantar fasciitis. Six months ago, I had severe plantar fasciitis in both feet. Now, I'm having no issues with my right foot and my left foot is down to mild. I still must manage it and, realistically, I must make this goal #1.

#2) Drink only socially and only once or twice a week. If I can't do that, I need to quit all together. I believe this is a primary and secondary contributor to the weight game and lifestyle limits.

#3) Participate in sports aggressive. I have been a recreational sports enthusiasts much of my adult life. I love the outdoors including running, hiking, hunting, backpacking, and skiing. I'd like to return to sports activities where I sweat and smile at the same time, and do so frequently.

#4) Feel good about my appearance. Thanks to genetics, I've grayed rapidly the last few years. Would simply like to feel better about my shape. An example of this would be to not have a conscious thought about weight when a photo is taken of me.

#5) Be warmly positive, to all, always. Isn't this really what any meaningful sense of "beauty," "attractiveness," or whatever is anyhow?
