New and looking for some friends to help me reach my goal!

Hi, my name is Andie. I am 54 years old and have struggled with my weight since the birth of my son 21 years ago. I have tried many "diets" with little success and the weight has always come back. I realize that I need to focus on a lifestyle change instead of thinking of this as a diet. I plan to make healthier smart food choices and increase my exercise. I have low back pain and I had knee surgery in 2015 for torn meniscus. My surgeon was unable to repair the entire tear so I struggle with some exercises from time to time. Walking has been the only thing I have been consistently able to do. I'd like to add some strength training. NO MORE EXCUSES!

how tall are you? 1200 calories is what those of us in the shorter ranges can eat. it's not the app's fault, it's how the body works. you need to eat approximately 3500 less calories than you need to lose 1 pound,

at 5'4" my maintenance calories without exercise is 1500 calories per day. what that means is i won't lose weight if i eat 1500 calories per day but i won't gain weight, either. if i want to lose weight, i have to eat 1250 calories per day or less. if i eat more than 1500 calories per day, i will gain weight - that's just biology. that's not taking into account exercise, but most fitness machines and apps grossly over-calculate calories burned, so one has to experiment with this a little as no 2 bodies burn calories exactly the same.

Hi Andie and the community. Sounds really similar to my battle with yoyo dieting, that I've been struggling with for 33 years!! Feeling really in control today. So hoping we can all support each other..
