Hi All, I'm new to this and not sure how to use the site or how to use adding food content.

Hi @paulawilms67 and welcome to MFP!
I started at about your age and have been here four and a half years and in maintenance for the last two or three. MFP works wonderfully if used as set up.
If you go to most sub-sections of the community boards, you will see “sticky” threads at the top of each section. These are threads deemed the most helpful and instructive to getting started, daily use etc.
I’d recommend investing the time in yourself to read as many of these threads as you can , starting at page one of each.
Browsing and absorbing from these boards was THE thing that contributed to both success, and more importantly, maintenance, which is harder for most than actually reaching goal in the first place (hence all the “I’m back!” posts you see here).
Take the time to go slowly, develop habits over long periods of time (I love how @Lietchi refers to “young habits” of three or four months failing in another thread), give yourself grace to mess up for a day or two or a week but be willing to go right back to those young habits and continue til you make them middle aged and eventually elderly ones lol.

Oh and when you hit a plateau (and you will hit a plateau at some point) the NSV thread over on Success Stories is a sanity saver.
NSV=non scale victory
When the scale doesn’t seem to budge, look for other indications that are proof positive that things are happening in your body, whether “you” see them or not.. I recognized things other people said that took some of the pressure and the self disgust monkey off my back when the scale didn’t budge for two or three months.0 -
The trick is to hang in there during the learning curve 🙂 and then from there build habits you can live with long-term (yes, start with young habits, aiming to get to middle-aged and elderly ones 😁)
@springlering62 gave great general advice. If you tell us more about yourself and your goals, we can try and give more specific advice.1
