I don't do iso's for abs, compound lifts take care of them for me.

Muscles don't know what time it is…

Best time to do abs, is like best time to do cardio.
When you have the most motivation to do them. There is no "best time to do any exercise" :-)
They won't grow any harder or stronger if you do them before or after cardio/bed/eating/whatever.

haha thanks for all your feedback. i ask because im motivated to do all exercises except abs -- i always find reasons to avoid them i.e.: "my heart-rate is up from doing cardio and i dont want to lay down afterwards." or "my back hurts." etc... i was hoping to find a time that i could do them with the least amount of excuses and make it a routine.

You know what exercises you'll stick with...ones you love, so find some you love.
You know what also works, making a decision to do them. No one can tell you a time to do them with any least amount of excuses because the excuses are yours, not anyone elses.
I'm NOT trying to be mean, just honest.

Do compound lifts and you won't have to worry about it.

I do calisthenics during my boxing classes... get a lot of ab workout in then.

Doing abs has to be at the right time or it doesn't work.

Once upon a time I had a night shift job and so I tried to sleep in the day, except that sleeping in the day is the wrong kind of sleep and doesn't work like sleeping at the right time and does not actually rest you at all, so I had to leave my job and get a daytime job so that I could sleep at the right time and then I was finally rested.

So abs are kind of like that.

    True story.

This only applies if you went to bed at 9:14pm.

Not rly true... there are multiple reasons to do abs in addition to compound lifts. Real talk for the op though if they are lifting weights don't do abs beforehand or you could end up hurting yourself.
  • I work my core every other day and I do it at the end when I'm done lifting.
