Success Stories Wanted! - Mini Stroke (Transient Ischemic Attack [TIA])

I'm hoping to hear of success stories regarding TIA, success being someone had a TIA, and thru weight loss via strict diet control and a great exercise regimen, the person was able to get off of the prescribed medications. I WANT OFF MY MEDS!
My story: three weeks ago, I had my first TIA. I'm 52 years old, male, and was somewhat overweight at the time. I was hitting the gym and exercising 5 times a week. After the TIA, I began using the MyFitnessPal app religiously and I record EVERY calorie I eat. I consume 1500-1600 calories a day, and have lost 9 pounds over 3 weeks.
I WANT OFF THE MEDS. I take a cholesterol-lowering med, a blood thinner, aspirin, and a blood pressure med. Everyone except my primary doctor tell me I will be on meds for my entire life. I don't want to believe that, and I'm hoping this forum can show me a success story or two. I WILL get my weight down to 162 pounds. I was 187 when the TIA occurred.
Any success story (or reality check if you know of someone doing the work I am doing) would be appreciated! Hard blunt truth is what I'm hoping to see in reply here.
