In need of friends and encouragement

Hi there! I need a little bit of encouragement today, if you can also add me so I can stay motivated with your posts I'd appreciate it.

I'm discouraged mainly because I'm a migraine sufferer and being on a diet and exercise program has been rough. I am telling myself it's all psychological, migraine attacks don't happen (to me) this often and they have nothing to do with lack of food! But still... It's not fun to wake up with pain and feeling defeated.

Hugs to you all

When I was getting migraines (from ages 25-45) I couldn't do very strenuous exercise because exercise could sometimes trigger migraines. I found that it was tied to over-heating, so swimming was my main form of exercise and that didn't seem to trigger migraines.

You can still lose weight without exercise, it's just a little more difficult.

I am sorry you suffer. My migraines left when I went through menopause but they were debilitating and disabling prior to that.

I hope you find a good treatment regimen. I took several daily prophylactic prescriptions and then Maxalt when a had a breakthrough migraine, which for me was about five times a month.

I don't do the myfitnesspal "friends" thing, but I do wish you well.

Are you absolutely sure your migraines aren't triggered in part by reduced calories? How fast are you trying to lose weight (or how fast are you losing, if you've been at this 4-6 weeks to get a rational average loss rate).

Reduced calories are a physical stress, so is new exercise . . . and stress can be a migraine trigger for some. (That one might think of this as "good stress" doesn't change that, unfortunately.) Aggressive calorie cuts, or sometimes calorie/nutrient and exercise timing timing, may cause blood sugar drops, and those can be a migraine trigger for some. Electrolyte balance issues can be a trigger, and dieting can affect that, especially low carb strategies without conscious attention to electrolytes.

Yes, I'm analytic to a fault. I don't know whether any of those things apply to you. But some of them may be worth considering.

I hope you can find a solution!

(P.S. I'm distinctly sub-par on the MFP friend side of things, though I do accept FRs. I encourage anyone who friend requests me to have low expectations . . . I'm more of a Community forum gal, realistically. But I sincerely wish you good outcomes!)
