One week of tracking cals

My first week looks like a single persons diet and its true. No kids or butlers to cook for. Tired on thursday meant cereal for dinner. Pretty cheap dinner thou.
Next week maybe pizza for three days.....
Sometimes nutrition label amounts and recipe amounts are not the same.
Pancake mix: nutrition label portion is 1/3 cup. Recipe on box says 1 cup of mix. Entered pancake mix three times into myfitnesspal app for my blueberry pancake breakfast.
I have a feeling that if it says cake it should probably not be a big menu item on the weight loss side of things.
Might be better than apple pie for breakfast. Apple pie contains fruit....your supposed to eat fruit!

Don’t diss the pancakes!!! 😂
I have pancakes every morning except Sunday (‘cuz……“Doughnut Sundays). There’s nothing wrong with pancakes. I’ve been having yummy moist pancakes for several years now and always look forward to rolling out of bed and enjoying them.
My usual breakfast is 402 -420 calories, including a latte coffee, but I load up early because I typically do training, weight room, and/or several classes in the morning.
One recipe makes four protein-rich servings, which reheat easily in the microwave.
1/3 any box of cake mix (about 143gr, I love either devils food or red velvet, but carrot cake with extra shredded carrots was good, too)
120 gr Bisquick Heart Smart
30 gr Naked whey powder
4gr baking powder
4gr baking soda
1egg
3 servings liquid egg whites
1 serving 170 gr fat free Greek yogurt
1 serving (113 gr) low fat cottage cheese
2 c liquid whey (leftover from yogurt making) or skim milk, appx 480gr for convenience sake)
Batter will seem thin but-especially
If you use liquid whey- will bubble up and thicken, so you need to have a hot griddle ready to go before it deflates.
Mix well, scoop onto dry pan or griddle with ice cream scoop. Makes about 45 large pancakes
Optional:1 serving (28gr) complementary flavor Skinny Syrup zero cal flavoring syrup
Optional: 10gr cacao or cocoa powder
Optional: if you’ll have calories to spare (I pre-log, so I usually have a good idea ), sprinkle a few grams of chocolate hagel on breakfast for next level joy. (Google it.)
Serve with homemade cream cheese (simply drain full fat Greek yogurt for two or three days til thick and spreadable) and a zero cal syrup. I like Hershey’s Sugar Free (5cal/serving) but lately am loving Jordan’s Skinny “sauce”, at zero calories. The chocolate expresso is quite good but the caramel is outstanding (and quite pretty on coffee, too).
I’m a chump and roll them up and eat them with my fingers. Little Debbie’s used to be one of my breakfasts of choice, “before”. I originally did this to pretend I was eating Swiss Rolls. Mind games make me happy, but now I’m just in the habit of enjoying them that way.
I eventually treated myself to a huge nonstick electric griddle, since I make these so often. Easy to clean up and disassemble, and stores easily with baking sheets.
Anyway, greetings from the world of TMI. 😇3 -
And congrats on the first week and making it out the other side!
One foot in front of the other, as Kris Kringle said. (Yet again, planting another ear worm….my work here is done)0 -
On the pancake thing...I use Kodiak pancake mix and I make banana pancakes just about every Saturday or Sunday for the fam. The package says 1 cup of mix and then add milk and eggs. The 1 cup of mix is just to make the entire batter for multiple pancakes. Once the batter is prepared, a serving is 1/3 cup of prepared batter that I use a measuring cup for to put on the griddle to make multiple servings of pancakes.1

It doesn't matter whether a thing you eat is called "cake". Really.
What matters:
For weight management, hitting appropriate calories. Food choice or nutrition has (at most) an indirect effect through satiation or energy level.. The direct effect is still calories. Reasonable body weight, consistently, is one of the very best things you can do for your health.
That said, good overall nutrition on average is important for health, body composition (fat vs. lean), satiation, and that sort of thing.
As others above have illustrated, things with "cake" in their name can be nutritious. Pizza typically has all the macros (protein-carbs-fats) and if you add meaningful veggies, lotsa micros besides. (Yeah, it's calorie dense, but if you're spreading one moderate-sized pizza over 3 days, and balancing out your macros/micros via other meals/snacks, and hitting a sensible calorie level, you're fine.
Don't let the blogosphere's warriors of orthorexia tell you otherwise. Average out around reasonable macros, micros, and calories over a day or few, you're doing fine.5
