Body fat percentage: the tale of the tape

So I tried to determine my body fat percentage using the tape measure method. I know there are more accurate methods, but it was easier to access a measuring tape than a DexaScan. I plugged in the various numbers (waist, belly, hip, thigh, wrist, etc.) and got back the following results…
I tend to think the Marine Corps estimate is closest to accurate, but such a wide range of numbers came back that I don’t know what to think. I certainly can’t be as lean as the Navy says, but I like to think I am a little fitter than the Y gives be credit for.

Interesting you got such wildly varying numbers, with the YMCA almost double. I did the calculations for the four methods you mentioned, and the Army/Navy/Marine ones were all within 0.1% of each other, while the YMCA rated me with about half the BF% as the other three.0
