Getting consistent while having busy life

Hey guys first time posting on the community and lately my consistency of training has fallen out of whack with busy family life and a relentless job with crazy shifts as well as coaching goal keepers in football/soccer .

How you guys manage with Ur consistency

Like anything else, you prioritize it as important. I work 12 hours a day and working out at the end of a shift for me won't work. So I get up and workout at 5am. I do it because it's important to me.

I've been at this for a bit over a decade, and my training and priorities have changed and shifted along the way. When my kids were younger I was very into endurance cycling and spent a ton of time training on the bike as well as spending time in the weight room. I don't have time for it anymore as my kids have gotten older and need help with homework and school projects and they need to get to and from soccer practice, games, archery practice and tournaments, jazz band concerts, basketball practices and games, etc...and then there's work and my domestic obligations.

I make time for what I can do that will keep me healthy and relatively fit. I can't train like I used to, but I can still be active. I walk everyday...about 40 minutes per day during the week during my lunch and about an hour on Saturday and Sunday, usually early morning with my coffee and the sunrise. I usually have time for a quick bike ride 2-3 days per week after work (usually while my kids are at soccer practice or whatever the season is, and I try to get out on a Saturday for a longer ride, a trail ride, hike, or something active...this is sometimes just me, but often it's a family affair, especially if it's a hike or kayaking or something of that nature. I hit the weight room with my 13yo and Friday after work and with him again early Sunday morning (we're usually out and back before the rest of the house is up). On Wednesdays I shuttle my kids to soccer practice after work and then head to the gym and finish up just in time to pick them up.

Most of my days...especially during the week are pretty filled. My wife and I sit down for dinner every night around 8-8:30 to watch a show before bed and that's usually the first bit of relaxation we've gotten for the day.

Hello! I think the easiest way for consistency is to do things that you don’t have to change your routine for and don’t take much time.
So for example I incorporate some walking or cycling into my commute to work, it takes no extra time. In fact sometimes walking is quicker than the bus because of traffic. This is easier in nice weather!!

Food wise I eat the same and just make the portion about half as much as usual. No time lost. If you have to get fast food just take the burger and not the chips or fizzy drink. If you have a pizza save half of your portion for the next day and you save time on making your lunch.

Weekends I take the kids out somewhere that involves a decent walk. Buy them a treat like an ice cream and enjoy watching them have it.
