Problems with Polar FT7- losing signal within 60-90 seconds

I have a relatively new (about 6 months old) Polar FT7 with the H1 Sensor and the Softstrap. After no problems for the first few months, it has stopped maintaining a signal. I wet the strap, put it on as tightly as I can, and it immediately finds my heart rate but then drops it within a minute or two. If I cancel out the workout and start over, the same thing happens. I replaced the batteries on the watch and the sensor and it's still happening I bought it on Amazon and cannot return it and don't even know where to start to get any sort of technical support. How do I figure out which compenent is malfunctioning???? I am hoping it's the strap, either it's too big or I didn't take proper care of it, but no idea.....
