Steps vs. exercise

My steps from Fitbit get automatically loaded towards my calorie goal. The problem is when I go for a hike if I log my hike, I’m getting double calories counted. I obviously burn more calories when I hike. My question is do I just count the steps or is there a way to fix this?

Hello and welcome.
Logging the hike in mfp will double the calories you've burned that day. Hiking is the exact same thing as walking basically. Don't log the hike and your numbers will be fine here in MFP.
I also use a fitbit that is connected to MFP and I will only log an exercise if my Fitbit is off my wrist for that exercise. All the rest is accounted for by the fitbit app.
Hope this helps.0 -
Your Fitbit, if the sync works correctly, is sending over all of your calorie burns to MFP, including exercise (even if the exercise itself doesn't appear in your diary). It's not recommended to add exercise in your MFP diary if you have a synced tracker.
